Before she practiced at the law firms Ballard Spahr LLP and Venable LLP, Tea worked for five years in the Department of Legislative Services in Annapolis as counsel to the House Economic Matters Committee. For over a dozen years in private practice, she worked on corporate and securities matters, specializing in real estate investment trusts and investment companies. She continued with her legislative work by advising clients on pending legislation. Tea presently works in the Office of the Attorney General of Maryland and represents the Maryland Technology Development Corporation. Before that, she represented the Commissioner of Financial Regulation for Maryland. Tea has held various positions of leadership in the Maryland State Bar Association, including as Chair of the Committee on Corporate Laws and Chair of the Business Law Section. She has also served as a member of the Laws Committee of the Bar. Outside of her legal career, she has co-chaired the Bryn Mawr Little School Tuition Assistance Fund and Senior Gift Committee, participated in other fundraising efforts for other Maryland independent schools, and served on other Boards.
