Samuel Ready
The name of Baltimore benefactor Samuel Ready (1789-1871)
has long been associated with outstanding educational opportunities
for Maryland girls. From 1887 to 1977, that association was with the
Samuel Ready School; from 1977 to the present, with Samuel Ready Scholarships,
Inc.
Today, Samuel Ready Scholarships, Inc. is a vital, giving organization
that provides scholarship funds to six prestigious Baltimore-area
independent schools (Bryn
Mawr School, Friends
School, Garrison
Forest School, Institute
of Notre Dame, Roland
Park Country School, and St.
Paul's School for Girls).
The
funds to these Supported Schools are for the education of girls
who show strong academic promise and who otherwise might be unable
to afford tuition at these schools. Thus, the mission of Samuel
Ready Scholarships, Inc. is to help worthy and intelligent girls
who need financial help obtain an education that will fully develop
their capabilities. To be named a Samuel Ready Scholar at one of
these Supported Schools is truly an honor.
Samuel Ready Scholarships, Inc. does not make individual granting
decisions. Interested applicants must apply directly to the Supported
Schools for admission. Candidates for the scholarships are then selected
by the schools and reviewed by the Board for eligibility.
