Annual Awards

Our annual awards recognize Scholars making an outstanding impact through their leadership in the community 

Evalina and Harold Jones Award

Given to a Scholar who has made significant or comprehensive contributions to her school. The Award is named in honor of a bequest to Samuel Ready Scholarships from the estate of Mrs. Jones, an alumna of the Samuel Ready School.

Mabel C. Hunter Award

Given to a Scholar who has demonstrated exceptional service to the community. The Award honors Ms. Hunter, a benefactor of Samuel Ready Scholarships.

Arthur D. Stebbins Award

Designated for a Scholar who has exhibited exceptional leadership. The Award honors the original donor of funds that were subsequently bequeathed to Samuel Ready Scholarships.

Louise Myerberg Award

This award is given to a Scholar who has exhibited exceptional creativity in the arts during Upper School. The award is named in honor of Mrs. Louise Myerberg, a Baltimore artist. It is meant to cover all types of creativity in the arts including but not limited to:  dancing, painting, drawing, sculpting, singing, drama, writing, poetry, etc.

 

 

Sylvia L. Hackett Award

Designated for a Scholar in the ninth, tenth, or eleventh grade who has exhibited superior scholarship (minimum grade average 87.5%, a 3.5 GPA or B+ cumulative average) with contributions to school, community service and leadership. This Award honors Sylvia L. Hackett, whose lasting expression of her profound commitment, loyalty and service to the Samuel Ready School and to Samuel Ready Scholarships was a magnificent bequest.

Frances S. Meginnis Award

This award is considered the most prestigious of the annual awards. It is presented to a graduating senior Scholar who has exhibited superior scholarship (minimum grade average 87.5%, a 3.5 GPA or B+ cumulative average) with contributions to school, community service and leadership. The award honors Mrs. Meginnis, the first Samuel Ready School alumna to serve on the Samuel Ready Board of Trustees. Mrs. Meginnis was an original member of the Board of the Samuel Ready Scholarships, Inc. and also served as the Board's President.
