About Us

Samuel Ready Scholarships empower young women in the Baltimore area to become scholars and leaders in their communities and beyond.

Our Mission

Samuel Ready Scholarships, Inc., gives academically promising young women

financial aid to attend Baltimore-area independent high schools

so they can learn, grow and excel.

The name of Baltimore benefactor Samuel Ready (1789-1871) has long been associated with outstanding educational opportunities for Maryland girls. From 1887 to 1977, that association was with the Samuel Ready School; from 1977 to the present, it is through the work of Samuel Ready Scholarships, Inc.

Samuel Ready Scholarships, Inc. is a vital, giving organization that provides promising young women with scholarship funds to attend any of five prestigious Baltimore-area independent high schools (The Bryn Mawr School, Friends School, Garrison Forest School, Roland Park Country School, and St. Paul's School for Girls).

These merit- and need-based scholarships to our Supported Schools are for the education of girls who show strong academic promise and who otherwise might be unable to afford tuition at these schools. Thus, the mission of Samuel Ready Scholarships, Inc. is to help worthy and intelligent girls who need financial assistance obtain a great education that will fully develop their capabilities and reach their full potential. To be named a Samuel Ready Scholar at one of these Supported Schools is truly an honor.
