A Samuel Ready Scholarship embodies a long tradition that combines quality of education, academic achievement, and financial need. Samuel Ready himself represented substantial values best described in William Faulkner's term of "old verities." Samuel Ready School stressed academic achievement, cultural interests, and school loyalty. Collectively, these considerations are implicit in selecting recipients of Samuel Ready Scholarships.
It is a natural hope for the future that Samuel Ready Scholarship recipients will join their predecessors in supporting the endowment.

Funding our Scholarships
The spirit of Samuel Ready School continues to be a motivating force in increasing the endowment of Samuel Ready Scholarships, Inc.
A vital element in the growth of the fund has been the support of Alumnae, friends, and former trustees of the Samuel Ready School. A substantial benefactor was Arthur D. Stebbins, a former trustee of the school. Other benefactors include Mabel C. Hunter, Evalina Levely Jones and Harold R. Jones, Thelma "Teddy" Duncan Hawkins, and Sylvia L. Hackett. In 1999, the largest bequest to date, a sum in excess of $1,400,000, was received from the estate of Harriet Harms Phillips, a member of the class of 1932.
Samuel Ready Scholarships, Inc. does not make individual granting decisions. Interested applicants must apply directly to the Supported Schools for admission.
